Other Countries (Admin-1)

The following countries support administrative divisions at the first level (states, provinces, prefectures, etc.) via Overture Maps / Natural Earth data. Matching is done through ISO 3166-2 codes and region names.

Note: Netherlands and Poland also have NUTS schemes (see EU NUTS Regions) which provide finer granularity (NUTS-2 and NUTS-3 levels).

Matching

For all admin-1-only countries, the matching engine accepts:

ISO 3166-2 codes — e.g. BR-SP, CA-ON, AU-NSW
Region names — in English or local language (e.g. "São Paulo", "Ontario", "New South Wales")
Common abbreviations — e.g. ON for Ontario, SP for São Paulo

Presets: Each country has a dedicated sub-national preset:

Global Admin-1 Coverage

Beyond the countries listed above, Hydrant has processed Overture Maps admin-1 boundaries for 100+ countries worldwide. These are available for map visualization and context regions but may not have dedicated selection presets. Contact support if you need sub-national data matching for a country not listed here.

Admin-1 boundaries are sourced from Overture Maps for countries with high-quality Overture coverage (USA, Japan), and from Natural Earth for other countries. Netherlands and Poland NUTS data comes from Eurostat GISCO.
