How do I import a dataset into Hydrant?

Upload CSV or JSON through the Hydrant Studio editor or use curated integrations such as World Bank Open Data and Our World in Data. Sources retain provenance and citations in the delivered video.

What region codes does Hydrant support for Germany?

Germany coverage spans Bundesländer, Regierungsbezirke, Landkreise, postal codes, and related administrative layers with per-layer region code tables in the Geo Mapping docs.

Which countries are covered for Hydrant geo mapping?

EU NUTS-1 through NUTS-3 coverage is documented alongside packs for Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, the United States, Japan, India, and additional locales via curated or custom overlays.

Does Hydrant support Italian provinces?

Italian provinces and neighboring administrative hierarchies are listed in Hydrant geo mapping documentation; availability follows the geography bundle selected for each production.

Which European NUTS levels are available?

Hydrant publishes NUTS-1, NUTS-2, and NUTS-3 geometries for participating EU territories with changelog entries when boundaries update.

How do I configure camera movements in a Scene?

Use the Scene panel to place virtual cameras along splines or keyframes, sync moves to narration beats, and preview motion before sending the render job to Hydrant Blender cloud.

How do studio pricing and revisions work?

Studio engagements bundle screenplay, choreography, narration, Blender cloud rendering, captions, subtitles, dataset licensing, SLA-backed review rounds, and packaged delivery renders as described on the Hydrant pricing page.

Overlay Settings

The Overlay panel controls additional layers that can be added on top of your visualization for video export. Overlays are rendered on top of the 3D scene during export.

Note: This feature is currently in development. Overlays might not be visible in all export modes.

Preview

Show Preview in Editor – Toggle visibility of overlay preview in the editor viewport.

Auto-Generated Layers

When a dataset has a description field, a text overlay layer is automatically created with the dataset description. This layer is linked to the dataset and updates if the description changes.

Overlay Layers

Overlay layers allow you to add text, images, or other elements on top of your visualization. Each overlay layer can be:

Positioned independently
Shown or hidden at specific frame ranges
Enabled or disabled individually

Add Watermark Layer – Create a new image watermark overlay.

Add Text Layer – Create a new text overlay.

Delete Layer – Remove an overlay layer.

Watermark Layers

Watermark layers display images on top of your visualization.

Watermark Settings

Image Preview – Visual preview of the watermark positioned on a canvas matching your export resolution and aspect ratio.

Anchor Position – Where the watermark is positioned:

Top Left: Top-left corner
Top Right: Top-right corner
Bottom Left: Bottom-left corner
Bottom Right: Bottom-right corner (default)
Center: Center of the canvas

Size

Width (% of canvas): Width as percentage of canvas width (1-100%)
Height (% of canvas): Height as percentage of canvas height (1-100%)

Opacity – Opacity of the watermark (0-100%, where 0 is transparent, 100% is opaque).

Timing

Visible From Frame: Frame number when overlay appears (1+)
Visible To Frame: Frame number when overlay disappears (1+). Leave empty for overlay to stay until end.

Text Layers

Text layers display text content on top of your visualization.

Text Settings

Text Preview – Visual preview of the text positioned on a canvas matching your export resolution and aspect ratio.

Link to Dataset Field – Optionally link text content to a field from the parent dataset. Available fields include:

Name
Description
Source URL
License
Credibility
Tags
Metadata Source

When linked, text updates automatically from the dataset. Selecting "Manual" allows free-form text entry.

Text Content – The text to display. Supports multi-line content. If linked to a dataset field, this updates automatically. Manually editing the text clears the dataset field link.

Font Settings

Font Size: Text size in pixels (8-200)
Font Family: Font family name (e.g., "Inter")
Text Color: Color of the text
Line Height: Line spacing multiplier (1.0-3.0)

Anchor Position – Where the text is positioned:

Top Left: Top-left corner (default for text)
Top Right: Top-right corner
Bottom Left: Bottom-left corner
Bottom Right: Bottom-right corner
Center: Center of the canvas

Size

Width (% of canvas): Width as percentage of canvas width (1-100%)

Visible To Frame: Frame number when overlay disappears (1+). Leave empty for overlay to stay until end.

Layer Management

Each layer can be individually enabled or disabled via a toggle in the section header
Layers are rendered in the order they appear in the list
Layers respect the export resolution and aspect ratio
Position and size are relative to the canvas (0.0 to 1.0, where 0 is left/top and 1 is right/bottom)
